Yoga and Surf Retreats The Perfect Getaway
If you are thinking of booking a yoga and surf retreat, then you’re probably looking to take advantage of both the physical and mental benefits of these two complementary activities. You will find that combining the two offers the perfect way to unplug from your busy day-to-day life, while enjoying the serenity of being out on the water and being in nature at the same time. Before making your reservation, here are some things that you need to know about this type of getaway.

Planning Is Important
It’s best to start with a plan. A lot of people take these trips without much of a plan, but they should really think about what they are going to do when they get there. Planning is important if you want your trip to be successful and not just a vacation. If you’re the one planning the trip, here are some things you should think about:
What will I do while I’m there?
Who am I going with?
How long will I stay?
Where will I stay?
What can I expect in terms of cost for my trip?
How can I make it affordable for everyone involved?
Where to Stay
There are a number of different places to stay during your retreat. The first option is to rent a house or apartment on the beach. For groups of four or more, this can be a great option as it allows for everyone to have their own room. If you’re traveling with friends who don’t want to share, this is the perfect opportunity! You can also opt for an all-inclusive resort, where you’ll have food and drinks included in your package. This will save you time from having to go out looking for food or drinks when you’re hungry! You can also book an all-inclusive package at a hotel near the beach if you plan on exploring other areas as well. Finally, if you’re planning on spending most of your time surfing while staying in Costa Rica, booking a surf camp might be a good idea. Surf camps offer high quality surfboard rentals and lessons taught by local pros. With so many options to choose from, it should be easy to find the best fit for your next Costa Rican getaway!
What to Pack
The right clothing is important in any type of travel, but it’s especially vital for the tropics. Lightweight cotton is preferable to heavy denim, as the heat will lead to you sweating more and cotton breathes better. You’ll also want to pack a light, breathable long-sleeved shirt to use as sun protection. Be sure to bring sunglasses with UV protection or a hat if you’re fair-skinned; these are crucial items that can’t be replaced if they break or get lost. Pack sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher), insect repellent, lip balm with SPF, a flashlight (for nighttime walks on the beach), water bottle(s) (to avoid dehydration), and baby wipes (to freshen up after surfing). Make sure your shoes fit properly and aren’t worn out, because wet feet combined with hot sand can cause serious blisters. Consider taking your own board to surf if renting one isn’t an option; boards usually come in three sizes: short (5’6), medium (5’8) and tall (6′).
Should I Take My Kids?
It is up to the individual parents to decide if taking their children on a getaway is a good idea. If your child is more mature and responsible, then it can be a great opportunity for them to experience something new. However, if they’re not used to being away from home or are too young, it might not be the best idea. Yoga has activities designed specifically for kids so they will have plenty of fun while you’re enjoying some time off.
Will I Feel Weird Without TV?
Ever since we stopped getting cable, I’ve been feeling pretty good. But there are some moments when I feel a little off. That’s when I realize that the only TV I’m watching is on my computer or iPad. And there’s just something about it that isn’t quite the same. But then again, what could be better than laying on the beach with nothing but your thoughts?
Do I Need to Be a Surfer?
Surfing is not required to enjoy a Yoga and Surf Retreat. However, surfers will be able to choose their own surf times, while non-surfers can enjoy the other activities that are available. Non-surfers will also have an opportunity to learn how to surf with a private lesson or introductory lesson from our professional surfing instructors. You’ll spend the day in either Hatteras, NC or Nags Head, NC on the Outer Banks’ long beaches. One day will be spent at your choice of Wexford or Kill Devil Hills Beaches, each of which offers different kinds of waves for surfers of any skill level. There are two overnight trips offered: A 3-night trip includes one night at The Carolina Shores Club Hotel, followed by 2 nights at the Hampton Inn; A 4-night trip includes two nights at The Carolina Shores Club Hotel and 2 nights at the Hampton Inn
